Our Hemisphere team are curious and creative. We bring together the best of left and right brain thinking to win heads and hearts. Meet our in-house, walking, talking 'what if?' machine.

Give us some backstory. What got you here?

Kia ora! I’m Te Maia. Basically, the Chiefs, golf, hunting, fly fishing, and Tauranga Boys’ College are the five things I’ll chew your ear off about. Anytime. Anywhere.
Don’t get me wrong, I do like other things. But it’s these that make me feel most at home. And best connected to friends and family.

I moved to Wellington for university. And though I started in humanities, it wasn’t long before I shifted focus to design. As part of the creative team, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to grow the roots of my advertising career at Hemisphere. With challenges in all the right places, it’s been an eye-opening 18 months. Finding my feet, one step at a time.

My entourage

You're off the clock. What are you up to?

Would consider myself a simple human really. Friends and family are the go-to, but if the Chiefs are playing, I prefer to be alone so I can yell at the TV in peace. Beyond the annual heartbreak of Super Rugby Pacific, I love playing golf with mates, hunting and fishing with family, and getting back to the Mount whenever possible.

Three words to describe yourself. No time to think.

"Could we try..."

What's your favourite thing about being on team Hemisphere?

I’d get in trouble if I didn’t say the team culture. Fortunately though, I do mean it. Our team is awesome. And most of our junior team started within a few weeks of each other. So, it’s been pretty special to share that first-year learning curve as a group.

Looking back, what's the one project that hits different?

Unsure about elsewhere, but I presume most interns don’t get a baby in their first year. The Hemisphere website was mine. I had to bring every voice into the mix. Which made it the perfect chance to connect, learn, and bottle up what makes us, us.

And the line that may as well be on your business card?

"Next year's our year."
