We’re looking for someone who can write. Sometimes a single line. Often times more. And just as importantly, we want someone who can come up with the idea behind the words.

Copywriter

Ok, so here’s the deal. The mahi keeps growing. So we’re growing our creative team.

‍
A lot of our work is government and behaviour change campaigns. You’ll have worked in that world and know what comes with it. Complex information. Different audiences. Plenty of feedback. Making things clear without losing what makes them interesting.

You’ll care as much about getting the practical, everyday stuff right as you do about the big campaign idea. There’s plenty of both here, alongside work for our commercial clients.

We’re Hemisphere, a proudly Aotearoa-owned, Tiriti-dynamic agency. You’ll bring a solid grounding in te ao Māori, and some reo Māori. You don’t need to be fluent, but you do need a foundation you can bring to the mahi from day one.

Show us how your knowledge of te ao Māori has shaped your thinking or your mahi. That could be through your creative work, your community or your own lived experience.

Ideally, you’ve spent a couple of years in an agency. Show us a portfolio with strong concepts, sharp writing and examples of making complicated things make sense. Tell us what you actually did. And if you haven’t been in agency land, tell us why your mahi still stacks up.

What will you get here at Hemisphere? The opportunity to be on the tools from day one, an integrated team that works together, experienced people to help you grow, and a coffee machine that makes half-decent brews.

This is a permanent role based in our Wellington tari. We’re looking for someone who wants to settle in and grow with us.

Send Sean, our Head of Creative, your CV, portfolio and a cover letter that gives us a feel for you. You’re applying for a writing job. Make the words count. sean.barker@hemisphere.nz

‍About Hemisphere
Our work is grounded in a Tiriti-dynamic approach, so a creative who already brings te ao Māori and kaupapa Māori experience will feel right at home here.

Great ideas come from diverse teams and real collaboration. We're building a place where different perspectives, experiences and worldviews are valued — where people support each other, challenge each other, and care about the work.

Our values guide everything we make

  • Whakapuāwai (growth) — we flourish as individuals, a collective and a community
  • Auahatanga (creativity) — we dream, express and achieve in everything we do
  • Whanaungatanga (connection) — we learn, understand and complement each other to deliver together
  • Manaakitanga (respect) — we give and receive support, generosity and kindness
  • Whakaihiihi (passion) — we bring enthusiasm and the drive to be the best we can be

‍The work we do — and don’t
We don’t sell alcohol, we don’t promote gambling, and we don’t market fast food. We simply don’t do that. Our creativity goes towards work that helps people and communities. If that’s the kind of work you want your name on, we’ll get along.
